"WE ARE ALIVE"

STARDATE 29651.06...
On December 7th, 2251, Starfleet Command dispatched the Federation starships Ulysses and Zheng He to planet Isonzo IV, located trailing and coreward from Federation space, 31.3 light-years from Denobula Triax. Federation scientists aboard the survey vessel Konstantin Tsiolkovsky reported discovering ruins of archaeological interest on a moon of the world three months prior. On January 4th, 2252, both starships arrive and begin an extensive survey.

STARDATE 29662.17...
Starships Zheng He and Ulysses fail to check-in by subspace with Starfleet Command, according to forward operating communication relay 1161, located outside of the B'Saar system. Relay 1161 sends an update request and begins monitoring space weather in the vicinity of BD+18 1563 Isonzo star system.

STARDATE 29679.55...
Relay 1161 reports no contact from starships Zheng He and Ulysses. Starfleet Command dispatches the Federation starship Kerala to investigate. Starfleet Command lists starships Zheng He and Ulysses as "Missing."

STARDATE 31479.76...
Nearly two years after being listed as Missing, Starfleet Command receives a badly degraded long-range subspace message from the vicinity of "Tabby's Star," located 1,468 light-years from the Federation Core. The message's transponder code matches that of the Federation starship Ulysses. The only portion of the message that could be salvaged reads: "We are alive."

This is the story of the Federation starship Ulysses...

A quick note to welcome Sandy, who is playing our new Bartender and Yeoman-floater, Prriya Myrranti! I'm not sure how to say welcome in Caitian, but welcome! No Kzinti here, fortunately.

On the downside, Quartermaster Savrappi is limiting each person to one lint roller brush. On the upside, Dr. Aax has plenty of allergy shots available for anyone allergic. ;)

Welcome Sandy!

» Welcome to Greg and T'Varis, and Some News!

Posted on Thu Feb 18th, 2021 @ 5:14pm by Lieutenant Kiam Aax in General News

Hi Uly! Happy Friday Eve to you! The weekend is soonish. If you have some time (and I know our lives are super busy right now) try to get to some tags in the next week or so. Thanks to all of you for checking in and giving us statuses on your situations- it is deeply appreciated!

I wanted to announce our new crewmember! Greg joins us as Security Deputy Ensign T'Varis. Greg is open and excited to get posting! Greg is very open about his status as a blind person and uses some very cool dictation software to write and read- it's pretty badass!

Sim central's Court Wizard, Aleksa the Magnificent, has been working on some renderings of the Ulysses Sickbay. I've seen the rough drafts and it's pretty badass! If you need a character face render with a uniform, Aleksa is around on our Discord (look for the Wizard's Loft) and his costs are very reasonable.

Anyway everybody, thanks for being with us!

» Starbase 15, then on to Isonzo

Posted on Mon Dec 28th, 2020 @ 7:02pm by Lieutenant Kiam Aax in General News

Hi Folks!

With the wiunter holidays almost behind us, I hope everyone had a good time with family! Once we conclude our business at Starbase 15, we are going to do a short jump in time to the Isonzo system's heliopause. Once there, Ulysses will rendezvous with the Zheng He and we will begin operations.

The Isonzo system is currently experiencing a large ionic disturbance that radiates from the star and out into the charged dust particles of the outer system. This storm is immensely dangerous but it can be navigated, as Engineering, Science and Helm will need to coordinate their efforts to get us into the inner system. Once inside the system, Communications will be very difficult, except ship to ship short range, and ship to shore on the planet.

Transporters are deemed not safe to use at this time, so we will be doing a fair bit of shuttling.

So please begin to wrap up any operations on Denobula and Starbase 15 (and of course you can backpost if necessary) so we can get going on to the next leg of our adventure!

Good Morning Ulysses!

So with Christopher, Joe and Dan joining us, we have filled the senior officer roles. So welcome everyone! If you have friends you want to invite, feel free but please let them know that we really only have support roles and a variety of engineers and scientists left.

We will also be opening up the option for you all to create "Linked NPCs" as secondary characters.

Reece and I haven't discussed how long we would like to let 28 Days run. This prologue mission is really so you all have some time to complete your bios and maybe test the waters with them in some narratives or JPs. With Thanksgiving coming up in the States, we expect this week may be somewhat light.

Our next mission goal will be to arrive at Starbase 15 which is near Denobula. My guess is, that will happen next week?

Starbase 15 is an aging but obviously well-kept and updated starbase and is the seat of control for this forward operating sector. It is a *very* busy port- you will see Antares-class freighters pulling into slips and departing- most of them are from the Federation Merchant Marine. There will be a bevy of smaller freighters, couriers, shuttles, and vessels, some from the Earth Cargo Service, or the Interstellar Trade Alliance (though they are more concentrated on the opposite side of the Federation).

Though many Federation members can be seen in a minority, the dominant non-Human populace mostly consists of Denobulans and the B'Saari who are friendly affiliates but not yet Federation members. The guarded, taciturn species and traditional Denobulan "boogeyman"- the Antarans are present but seem to keep to their own numbers despite also being Federation members. Nevertheless, their trade ships are found here.

Starfleet tolerates the presence of Zenith. These Humans (and they are exclusively Human) are an uncomfortable reminder of the Eugenics Wars and Optimist thinking. They also oddly harken back to the days of a standing Human military and these people behave in much the same way as a firebrand Marine or Roman Legionnaire. These men and women are only on the starbase to offer their services as bodyguards and are hoping to score contracts with groups looking for mercenaries. Wherever a Zenith member is found, there seem to be a couple of lingering Security officers.

Hello Uly-Fam and Everyone Out There!

We are going live! The Ulysses GMs are opening up the 28 Days prologue mission! We will start setting the scene for our upcoming mission at Isonzo IV. We're using this time to let you guys generate some personal plots, iron out our characters, finish up our bios- and it will leave us a little time to try and recruit a few more people!

Glad to have you all with us! Hopefully, this is the start of something amazing! Feel free to hit each other (and us GMs) up for any kind of JPs. You have 28 mission days free (and of course you can flashback too well before that).

The points of interest for this mission will be:

- We left Proxima Colony and the Proxima Shipyards for our (minor) five year refit just a few days ago.

- We were supposed to dock at B'Saar for an annual conference with the Interspecies Medical Exchange. That was pre-empted.

- We set course for Denobula Triax and Starbase 15 (and will arrive in about a week) to onboard supplies and a few technicians for the Federation News Network.

- We will proceed to the Isonzo star system outside of the Federation's Alpha Quadrant frontier (in the galactic northwest or "Trailing-Coreward" frontier).

If you have any questions, just shout on Discord or by DM! :)
