| Summary | Born on the Federation colony of Delta Aquilae IV, Kevin and his older twin sister are the only children of a Starfleet captain father and a concert pianist mother. Because their parents were often away from home, Kevin and his sister were mostly raised by their uncle. Both him and his sister followed in their father’s footsteps by joining Starfleet. Kevin appears to be your typical young Starfleet officer, eager to prove himself and put his talents to use. He is friendly and outgoing, and while genuine, the persona he presents to the world masks a number of insecurities. A talented pilot with a natural feel for flying, he has already proven himself a capable officer on his previous assignment. He follows orders without question, even though he may not agree with them, and tries to learn as much as he can from his superiors. |

| External Conflicts | Kevin can get competitive when stressed and has a case of overachiever syndrome. Though he’s not likely to step on someone’s toes intentionally or take over their turf, he can push himself too hard or try to take on too much. When this starts to wear on him, he can get short-tempered because he’s not performing at his best, which can create friction between himself and colleagues. He doesn’t take failure well and will repeat a task over and over until he gets it right. He has for the most part preferred superficial romantic/sexual encounters and struggles with letting people get to know the more vulnerable side of him. He had one close intimate relationship while at the Academy, but struggled to reconcile the person he was in the relationship with the person who he envisioned himself to be as a Starfleet officer. His parents have a loving but physically distanced relationship due to the nature of their work. Though he believes this is what he should want for himself, it’s contradictory to what he really desires deep down, which is a strong and close relationship. |

| Internal Conflicts | Although none of his family have placed pressure on him to succeed, they are all naturally ambitious and this makes Kevin put a lot of pressure on himself to be successful and ambitious too, even though his true ambitions are different than those of his family. He initially had an interest in the sciences, but decided on pursuing the command track like his father and sister instead. He tries to be someone he’s not in order to match the expectations he has of himself. He considers himself to not be on the same level as his father and sister regarding their Starfleet careers, and has a fear of not being good enough. The event is likely to be a turning point for him since he has not had to face many personal challenges in his life. At first he might see it as an opportunity to shine as a Starfleet officer, but the reality of the situation is likely to force him into some serious introspection eventually, forcing himself to ask what he really wants from life instead of what he thought he wanted. |
